Having a steady cash flow in college is extremely volatile especially when you are paying for books, classes, food, and other necessities. Of course there is the cushion of financial aid and scholarships but they are not available for every working student. As a repercussion of educational and living expenses; students may  possibly be searching the job market for some luck.

Obtaining a job, which will work around a student's mundane schedule can be a mission in itself. Fortunately, there are few employers' that sympathize with students; going out of their way to help with crucial time-management. Local companies that provide jobs for the college student are Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. They may be 2 competing theme parks but they both want those attending college to be able to go to school while being the best employee at their company.

"As long as the student keeps the scheduler informed with their class schedule and work the scheduled hours given, says Fullerton College student and Disney Cast Member Isidro Montes, then everyone involved will be happy."

Former Disneyland employee Gary Gutierrez says, ‘at both parks, it is a recommendation that employees are able to work Friday nights and weekends.

Knott's Berry Farm, former employee and recent Cerritos College graduate Melinda Zavala liked that Knott's was also able to give her the flexibility to finish her degree.

Most scholars think flexibility in jobs are important because they let students have the time to study and do homework.

"I wouldn't mind a pay-increase but knowing that finding job is difficult in these tough times, I must say, my small paycheck gets me through the weeks. I must include that I do receive financial aid, so I can't really determine how difficult it may be for a student that doesn't qualify," Gutierrez said.

Zavala found she got by with minimum wage to buy books and supplies. There are many positions at both theme parks to choose from depending on what is available.

"The best position, I must say, is either being in the college program, so you can go to school and work, or choosing a department that will best coincide with your major. But usually Disney overall, is a great way to earn experience socially and financially,"  Gutierrez said.

Both theme parks should be suited to a students needs, as long as flexibility is key on both sides when it comes to scheduling.

"I would say Knott's Berry Farm is a pretty good place to work at while going to school because its flexible hours and its a fun job to have while going to school and you learn a lot there too," Zavala said.

In the end, Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm would be seemingly ideal for the part or full-time student. It would help the student gain some work experience and money.
